Do Something Good
When I was growing up, it was pretty rare to see a doll that portrayed a person of color. For every 20 white dolls I saw on the shelf, I would see maybe one black doll (and that was a pretty big maybe). It just wasn’t normalized. Which was a problem. It’s actually really important to a girl growing up that she’s able to have dolls that look like her so she can see herself in the world and see herself succeeding.
Meet Zoe Doll
While we’ve moved forward in the twenty-five plus years since I was a kid, it’s always great to see companies making strides. Healthy Roots Dolls is just that. Their Zoe Doll is a little girl with beautiful curly black hair. Healthy Roots wants to teach girls that no one should feel less because of their hair or the color of their skin.
