Cleaning Out My Closet

american eagle outfitters, skirt, black top, boatneck top, loft sandals, sandals, bubble necklace
The other weekend I started a MASSIVE closet clean out. I filled up 3 massive bags of clothes to sell and one to just straight away donate. I was pretty proud of myself and I feel like I can probably do even more slimming down in the next few weeks.

What does that have to do with this outfit though? Well, this skirt falls into an odd, but somewhat regular category of clothes for me. The pieces that I love, but for some reason or another, I don’t wear it. Then after multiple months of sitting in my closet, I pull it out and it becomes my new favorite thing. I love it because it feels like I’m refreshing my wardrobe, but it’s problematic when clearing out my closet because I can’t use the “if I haven’t worn it in a few months” rule that many people use. Luckily, I have plenty of other tests I can put clothes through to decide if I’m going to keep it. My favorite rule out of all of these? The “do I dread wearing it?” rule. Yeah, it happens sometimes.
