Saturday’s Something Good: What’s in My Bag

I realized that it’s already been a full year since I did a what’s in my bag post, so why not do a little update?
Now that I’ve been in DC for two years and try to walk as much as I can, I’ve had to try to find ways to get everything into my bag, but not make it incredibly heavy. When I’m running around on the weekends, you’ll probably find all of these things in my bag (which is sadly currently sold out, but I linked to some more awesome saddle bags at the bottom):

Band Aids: I basically need to keep these around all of the time. Everything from blisters to accidental cuts, bandaids are my life savers! I’ve also started to use their no rub wax and it’s a lifesaver.
Sunglasses: Maybe it’s just the fact that I lived in overly cloudy Pittsburgh for 6 years, but man, my eyes have a hard time handling all of the sun sometimes. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but I need sunglasses to make sure I’m not squinting all of the time.
Kindle: This doesn’t make it into every bag, but it makes it into 95% of my bags (and the kindle app makes up for it when it’s not there). I have a fear of getting stuck somewhere with nothing to read, so reading material is a must. And no, browsing twitter doesn’t count because you aren’t going to always have wifi.

KIND Bars: Hi, I’m Dana and I get hangry really easily. Just ask my boyfriend or any of my friends, I tend to be hungry most of the time and need something to snack on. KIND bars are perfect for a quick snack and help to fill me up until dinner. Plus, a Dana that isn’t hungry means a Dana that is less likely to get headaches, so thank you KIND bars.
Planner + Pen: Keeping track of my do to list and taking notes on the go. I’ll be honest, if my bag is packed, this may be the first thing to go and I’ll use the notes feature on my phone to keep track of things instead. However, I still love my planner and getting to cross things off my list (or add them).

iPhone + headphones: My phone, music, podcasts, audiobooks, and books all in one. On the go = always listening to something.
Hair Tie: Sometimes it’s hot, sometimes you feel like a a mess, and sometimes you just need to pull up your hair. Also, I love these pony hair holders because they don’t leave a ridiculous post pony bump in my hair.
Rings/Other Jewelry: I have a really bad habit of taking off my jewelry when I go to pure barre and then just leaving them in whatever bag I have with me. This means that every once in a while, I’ll have some extra jewelry on hand. I haven’t had a use for it yet, but I’m sure it’ll be handy for a quick change one day soon.

Lotion + chapstick: I can’t live without either of these things! My skin and lips dry out so fast (even during the summer), so these two are necessary.
Wallet: I think this one is pretty self explanatory. Since my wallet is a little big, whenever I use a smaller purse, I just pull out the basics: my ID, credit card, and the ever present metro card.
