My Lazy Work Day Uniform

Was anyone else overwhelmed and exhausted from the past two days of sales? I know I was. I’m not sure why every brand and their mother felt the need to jump on the this Christmas in July/Sale bandwagon…but here we are. Broke, multiple boxes coming our way, and a pile of unloved clothes from years past hanging out in our closets.

So I thought it would be fun today to take a break from shopping online and instead shop our own closets to revisit favorite pieces. I also wanted to share how those favorites make up my lazy work day uniform.

My Lazy Work Day Uniform

Okay, this clothing concept might sound completely ridiculous at first glance, but think about it. You all know the day that you’re just feeling tired and want to curl up in a blanket, but it’s Thursdays, so you have to go into the office. You find the most comfortable outfit you can and call it a day. The only problem is that it’s still a work day and you need to look professional. That’s the lazy day work uniform. So how do I put mine together?

Comfortable Pants: Joggers

The first thing you need to do is find the closest thing to sweatpants or pajamas that you can. For me that either means maxi dresses or joggers. Most of my maxi dresses are a little more casual, so I aim for joggers.

If you don’t own a pair of joggers yet, be careful when you set out to buy a pair. You want to avoid anything that resembles sweatpants material. Instead, aim for a material that you would typically see for any pair of work pants. The fit of the pants should just be looser. Joggers will also typically be cropped above the ankle.

Structured Tank

Since it’s the middle of the summer, I’m reaching for my favorite structured tank next (the Everlane GoWeave Tank). I love this tank because it’s color goes with everything, but it’s not a see-through white. Truthfully, I’ll reach for this tank no matter what pants or skirt I’m wearing, I swear it goes with everything. That’s why I own it in three colors!

Professional, but oh-so-comfortable shoes.

The last piece of your lazy day uniform? The shoes. Thanks to Everlane (and a few other brands) you feet CAN look professional and still be comfortable. Since this is a lazy day, my first choice is obviously going to be flats, specifically, my Day Gloves. A second great choice would be flats from Rockport’s Total Motion line or Dr. Scholl’s (they’ve gotten much cuter lately). But this is my dream day, so I’m picking the day gloves first.

Remixing the items from my Lazy Work Day Uniform

Like I mentioned earlier, it’s always good to remember to shop your closet sometimes. In the spirit of that, here are some other ways I’ve styled each of these pieces in the past.
