Holiday Party Outfit Ideas

When people say holiday party, some may think sparkly. But me? I think plaid. With maybe a side of plaid. Okay, maybe not the second part because I don’t really mix plaids, but I love it, never the less. Which is why when it came to sharing holiday party outfit ideas, I knew that they both had to include plaid.

Today I’m going to share two different outfits. One for casual-ish party and one that’s a little more fun.

A Casual-ish Holiday Party

Jeans

So I love jeans and how they can really change up your outfit. Light wash jeans give you a more casual look while dark wash jeans look much dressier. In this case, I would suggest darker jeans (like a dark blue wash or black) since they’ll look much better. Plus, you won’t show up to the party looking like you’re overdressed.

A Cute Top + an Accessory

This top has bell sleeves and it takes my whole look up a level. Now, since my top is kind of plain (minus the sleeves), it’s perfect to pair with an accessory. I would normally go for a necklace, but this vest is a fun trade-off! Normally, I this vest wouldn’t be up my ally at all, but once I tried it on, I couldn’t take it off! It’s a cute addition to any outfit and I can’t wait to pair it with other things.

Plaid Shoes

I told you this was a plaid post! I couldn’t decide between my plaid flats or heels, but the flats won out this time. The neutral palette just helps them stand out, even though I have so many fun pieces in my outfit.

The Dress-It-Up Outfit

I definitely had fun putting this outfit together. I don’t go to a lot of dressy parties, so I’ll jump at any opportunity to put together a fun outfit.

A Plaid Top

If you’re going to wear plaid as your main piece, you better pick a good one! This J.Crew Factory top was a no-brainer. It’s sassy and paired with black pants, it looks nice and dressy.

The Bottom

You could do this so many different ways. I decided to go super simple and just do simple black pants with black pumps. But I could have also done a flippy skirt or stilettos. It really just depends on what kind of dressy party I’m going to.

My Hair

Okay, so yes, I have my hair two different ways in these pictures. I love pulling my hair up for a halter top and this bow was perfect. However, I was iffy about it overall. so I ended up switching it out for a half up, half down look, and I loved it! But I still vote for something with your hair up if you’re wearing a tie-back top.
