Gifts that Give Back: Herbert’s Wine Jelly

Note: This post contains affiliate links for Amazon, but it is NOT sponsored. I found this brand, paid for their product, and wanted to promote them on my own.

“Wine jelly, Dana? Have you lost it Dana?”

I’m not surprised if that’s the first thing that popped into your head when you read the title of this post. I don’t think I have EVER talked about jelly on this blog before. But the second I tried Herbert’s wine jelly at MetroCooking DC and heard about their mission, I knew that I HAD to share this company as gift that gives back with you.

Gifts that Give Back: Herbert's Wine Jelly, hot chocolate

Herbert’s Wine Jelly

About Them

If you haven’t caught on yet, Herbert’s is a Virginia-based food company that produces jellies, peanut butter spreads, herb dips, and hot chocolate mixes. All of their products can be used in a wide variety of ways (many of which I got to try) and everything is absolutely delicious.

Why is Herbert’s Wine Jelly a gift that gives back?

As a woman business owner, I wish to support those making every effort to improve themselves and  provide for their families.

My Focus, Herbert’s Wine Jelly Website

While their food was amazing, it was their mission that really got my attention. Herbert’s is dedicated to supporting those with mental health issues through their members of the community with mental health issues and donating to profits of the sale of their specialty foods to local and national mental health organizations.

At Metrocooking, they spoke so passionately about how proud their staff was to create the food and distribute it, I swear it made the food taste better.

The Food

Herbert’s Wine Jelly

These jellies are non-alcoholic, but they come in a wide variety of wine, cocktail, and beer flavors: Apple Merlot, Blackberry Cabernet Sauvignon, Mango Moscato, Pear Pinot Grigio, Orange Pineapple Chardonnay, Margarita, Strawberry Daiquiri, and Lager.

I got to try the apple merlot and mango moscato, both of which were delicious! What was really cool, was that they had recipe suggestions and as well as examples to taste. So I was able to try them as part of thumbprint cookies and also on crackers. They also suggested that it would be great to use in meat dishes.

Herb Dip Mixes

I only tried this briefly, with crackers, but it was great. The flavors they have are: Bacon, Fiesta, Dill, Spicy Ranch, and Italian. It’s a great way to get some new herb mixes!

Hot Chocolate

Hot chocolate is the best winter treat, isn’t? Drinkable chocolate, what could be better?! Once I tried it, I just kept wanting to go back for more. So obviously, I had to buy some of my own. Plus, since I’m a pumpkin lover, I had to pick up the pumpkin flavor as well.

Here are their other flavor options: dark chocolate raspberry, cocoa toffee coffee, pumpkin chocolate, and dark chocolate fudge.

Gift it!

If you aren’t going to gift this to yourself, I think this would make an excellent gift for your parents, in-laws, or as a hostess gift. It’s a fun assortment of flavors, it’s non-alcoholic so you don’t have to worry about anyone who doesn’t drink, and it has a great message behind it. Herbert’s does sell some of their products through Amazon and they have two great sampler sets that would be perfect gifts.

How can you buy Herbert’s?

Well, you have a few different options.

If you live in Virginia…

They’re in grocery stores all over Virgina!

But you can also order online!

Herbert’s offers two online ordering options. They have a number of their products for sale on Amazon. You can also use The Elephantz Trunk (I’ve never heard of this though, so I can’t speak to this).

This is such a great brand, I hope you’ll consider supporting them this holiday season!
