Do Good
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. I seriously have one of the coolest undergrads. They just announced “The Drinkable Book” project.

This project is truly amazing, it looks like a traditional hardcover, but you can tear out a page and use that to filter dirty water. The researchers have found that “after passing water through the treated paper [there was] a reduction of greater than 99.9 percent of bacteria — a result so effective, it is comparable to tap water in the United States.”

Not only does this book filter water, but the book’s pages include relevant text, (printed in food grade ink) that detail basic hygiene, sanitation, and clean water practices. The plan is to be able to print this book in a number of languages to share it in communities world wide.

How can you support this project at home? Water is Life, has partnered with The Drinkable Book to help secure production funding and begin global distribution of the book. You can learn more about it on their website or donate directly to the mission. Even if you can’t donate, just spreading the word and increasing knowledge can help.
