Even with my Amazon post a few weeks ago, it truly feels like I haven’t opened a blank blog post in forever. Almost to the point where I’m not sure what to write. Which is ridiculous because I have so many life updates and things I want to share! So today’s post is going to be a little haphazard, but hopefully it won’t be too bad. I’m not going to use the regular “Currently” style for this post, but I figured calling it “Currently” was still the best way to describe today’s post.

Let’s get into the updates (and other random things I wanted to share)!

Things that have happened while I’ve been gone:

Wedding & Honeymoon

  • I got married! After what feels like years of planning, my husband and I celebrated our wedding day in June. It was such a nice weekend and I’m really happy with the fact that there wasn’t anything that really went wrong. I’m not going to do a full post about the wedding, but here are a few highlights:
    • My flower girl was truly the star of the show and I LOVED it. She got people on the dance floor and danced up a show.
    • Our photographer fell into the fountain! She was backing up while taking pictures and before any of us could stop her, she fell into the water. Luckily, she didn’t get hurt and no equipment was ruined, so we all got to laugh it off. Also, since it was such a nice day, she dried off quickly.
    • The day and the venue itself was beautiful! We had been experiencing super hot weather and thunderstorms, in the day prior, but on the wedding day, it was 78 degrees and beautiful! This was also a super bonus for us because our wedding was outside. (We did have a back up plan, but it obviously was ideal.)
    • My husband still talks about how amazing the day was. This sounds a little mushy, but it’s nice to hear because I did most of the planning (with some input). So it was exciting for him to see the final product and talk about how much he loved it.
  • We went on our honeymoon to Antigua and it was amazing. This was the first time in years that I truly took a week off and relaxed. We just laid in the sun (with plenty of sunscreen) and relaxed. It was so amazing and now I want to go on another vacation.

A few other life things

  • Our dog turned two! Yes, social media star Rosie turned two in July. Yes, she’s a dog, but I love seeing how much she’s grown and how much she’s still like a puppy.
  • The womp womp news: our apartment flooded. At the beginning of July, (27 hours before we were supposed to leave for our honeymoon), there was a fire in the unit above us, the sprinklers went off in their apartment and it completely flooded our apartment. We’ve been out of our apartment since and have been waiting while the apartment slowly (very slowly) gets fixed. It’s been so weird for the last month, but no one got hurt, so everything’s okay.

What I’m reading, watching, and wearing in Currently: A Life Update

Reading

  • My reading is actually out of control. It’s only August and I’ve already read 124 books. I want to share them all with you guys, but I have no idea how to do that with out going crazy. It’ll probably be some combination of posts and Instagram stories, I’m still deciding. Here are some of my favorites:

Clothing

  • I hate what’s going on in fashion right now. Between the 90s/2000s/Deliah outfits and the Little House on the Prairie style, I’m just over it. It’s made shopping been a lot more interesting and as a result, I’ve been drawn to other brands I haven’t shopped before (or in a while). I will say though, the costal grandmother trend really did help me out (I love this).
  • I’ve fallen in love with the brand AYR and Sarah Flint. My love affair with Sarah Flint started a while ago, but it’s full on at this point. Their shoes are so cute and comfortable it’s crazy. Yes, they’re expensive, but they’ve been worth it. AYR is a clothing company that makes the most comfortable shirts. I’ve basically stalked their sales and have built a nice little collection of striped shirts. They’ve been most of what I’ve been wearing the last few months.
  • Lately, I’ve been into Ann Taylor again. I feel like they’re always an iffy brand for me, but again, I’ve been drawn back to some random brands. They’ve been put out some really cute stuff lately and I’m into their new arrivals.

TV and Movies

  • I’ve been going back to the movie theater and it’s amazing! There are actually movies I want to see and I love just going to see a movie in the theater and zoning out.
  • I watch Marvel now. Um, what? Who am I? That’s what my husband keeps asking me. I got into watching them after some kids I was babysitting for wanted to watch Captain Marvel and now I’ve been fully sucked in. I’ve even watched some of the Marvel series on Disney plus (I love WandaVision and I’m part way through Miss Marvel).
  • The TV shows I’ve been watching have been truly all over the places. Though now that I think about it, the common thread with a lot of them is that they’re British. I was all over this season of Love Island UK, Ghosts (what the CBS show Ghosts is based off of) and I started watching Shakespeare and Hathaway (a British buddy-cop, but detectives show). I still love my Bravo shows though and the Below Deck franchise is just constantly amazing.

Okay, I think I need to stop myself because I feel like I’ve typed up a lot here for this Currently: A Life Update. Before I finish though, I wanted to let you know that I’m going to try really hard to start posting here again. My goal is to get a least one post a week up (which is crazy considering I used to post 4 times a week), but for now, this is what works.
