Something I’ve Been Uncomfortable Talking About

I should probably be clear, today’s post isn’t going to be that salacious. Sorry, but my life isn’t that juicy. But I do have something that I’ve been uncomfortable talking about for a while. Because of that lack of comfort, I’ve just flat out avoided the topic.

Something I've Been Uncomfortable Talking About | Something Good | A DC Style and Lifestyle Blog on a Budget, beautycounter consultant

You probably have noticed that since this past summer I’ve started increasing beauty content on here. But in October, I started talking more about Beautycounter. I wrote a few posts about Beautycounter, but well, I didn’t really explain why. So what have I been so uncomfortable talking about?

In November, I became a Beautycounter Consultant

Why was I so uncomfortable talking about it? Well, I hate the stereotype associated with it. I was so afraid that if I told you guys that you wouldn’t trust me any more. That you would think I was pushing products down your throat. But it’s the complete opposite of that. Instead, I just wanted to share beauty products I love the same way I would share a favorite skirt or shirt. Becoming a Beautycounter consultant allowed me to participate in their affiliate program the same way I work with Shopstyle (like how I explained in this post).

If you’re curious what my past Beautycounter posts have looked like, you can see all of them here.

Talking About Beauty

The other thing I was nervous about? I didn’t even know if you want me to talk about beauty! In my October survey, some of you mentioned you were interested in it. However, I know that sometimes when the styles bloggers I read talk about beauty or skin, I tend to skim those posts.

Sometimes I also feel like I don’t even know how to properly talk about beauty. But in some sense, I feel like that also makes me better to talk about it. The dummy’s guide to figuring out beauty (and clean beauty). Ha! Maybe we could both learn together?

So that’s where we are now.

I’d love to hear your thoughts! Do you want to hear more about beauty, hair, and skin care on here? Do you have specific questions you want me to talk about? I’d love to know!
