Sorry my April 2020 Budget post is a bit later than usual, but I’ll explain why below!

So this is my first full budget month of shopping while in quarantine. While I got a lot of things in March, life turned out a lot differently in April. As you might have guessed from some of my shopping posts, it was a month of retail therapy, but I really ended up not keeping a lot of the things I purchased. A lot of my items ended up getting returned and I only ended up holding on to a few key things.

Why? Well, as I was trying things on, I started to realize that I had no idea when I was going to get to wear these things again. I could buy for going to work in the summer, but the reality of the situation in DC is that I don’t know when I’ll be going back to the office in the summer. So all I wanted really for right now were things that I would wear while working from home. For me that means cozy sweaters, tops that look okay on camera, and just comfortable clothing in general.

The other problem I realized that I faced the other day is that normally I would do a spring cleanout of my closet to see what items I didn’t really want to carry into the summer months. But I ended up just sitting on my bed and staring at my closet when I attempted that. Why? Well, um, I don’t know because again, I don’t know when I’m going to get to wear them or what I’ll want to wear. It’s a weird catch-22 I’m in right now.

I promise it’s not all bad though!

Okay, was that a little depressing? Well, let’s look at this from a happier side for a moment: I do LOVE everything I picked up this month. The items from Everlane are perfect for staying cozy while indoors (yes, the jeans are stretchy so it still works). I’m obsessed with the Everlane sweater. I’m so obsessed that I have it in two colors (PS it’s on sale now). The shoes are also great to wear around the house, especially if you haven’t gone outside yet, since you can just slip them on and off. Finally, these J.Crew tops are so good on screen that I bought them in three colors! So while it was a slightly depressing month of shopping, the outcome was overall excellent.
