Shopping Reviews, Vol. 57: Nordstrom Peplums

I don’t know what happened mid-February (or January?), but I decided to try on all of the peplums from Nordstrom. Okay, maybe I didn’t try on all of the Nordstrom peplums, but I certain tried on a few.

Shopping Reviews, Vol. 57: Nordstrom Peplums | Something Good, @danaerinw , Peplum tee Caslon

CaslonĀ® Peplum Tee, White XSP

Do you know how hard it is to find a good peplum tee? They’re either too short, too long, or they hit in the wrong place. The problem with this one? Well….it was too expensive for what it was. Seriously, I just don’t know if I can justify paying $39 for what’s basically a plain white tee with a ruffled bottom. It’s kind of disappointing though because the fit was pretty good. Also, the shirt was surprisingly not see-through. I don’t know if I’ll find a better one than this, but I just don’t know if I can justify the price.

Verdict: I don’t know…what do you think?

BP peplum tee white

BP. Stripe Peplum Tee White, XXS

The great news: this fit really well. The bad news: it’s completely sold out from the site. Like, gone gone gone. It might come back in stock though, so just keep checking the BP section. If it does, the top does run large. I had to size down one size to make it actually fit properly. The peplum also had a high-low hem, which I wasn’t the biggest fan of. I think I may have liked it better if it wasn’t as dramatic. As you can also probably tell, it’s a little see through and wrinkles easily.

Verdict: Return (so at least there will be one back in stock?)

Peplum tee BP Stripe

BP. Stripe Peplum Tee, XXS

Same top, but I couldn’t resist trying on the striped option. This was significantly less see through and the peplum hi-lo didn’t feel as dramatic. But, I didn’t like how much lower the neckline was on this one. I need at least a little consistency here.

Verdict: Return

Caslon peplum tee

CaslonĀ® Peplum Tee, Navy Stripe, XS

Note to self: whenever trying on Caslon always size down or go to petites! Caslon almost always runs large, as proven with this top. It could have been fine as just a regular striped top, but the peplum emphasizes how it’s too large and the peplum hits at the wrong place.

Verdict: Return

Madewell Soundcheck Side-Tie Tee in Stripe
Madewell Soundcheck Side-Tie Tee in Stripe, Small

I’ve been stalking this top from Madewell for the longest time (or at least it feels that way). It sold out in the XS, but I decided to try out the small (because why not). The small actually fit surprisingly well. It’s (obviously) a little loose, but it helps that I can tie the bottom. The material is a linen/cotton/tencel mix, so it’s a little different than I’m used to, but I really like it.

Verdict: keep

BP. Side Slit Tee
BP. Side Slit Tee, XXS

Another day, another striped tee for the collection. So like the BP top above, this one ran large, so I sized down for a better fit and length. It was still pretty long, but tucked in, it doesn’t look too bad. It’s also super soft and incredibly comfortable, so it’ll be nice for lazy days.

Verdict: Who are we kidding. It’s a striped top. I kept it.

That’s all for today’s post and I think I’ve finally come to the end of that Nordstrom order. But there are always more shopping reviews on the way, don’t worry.
