Do Something Good

I have to admit, I’m not really looking forward to writing this section today. I started it because I wanted to share the amazing and good things going on and the other ways you could join in to help people.
But with everything going on in the past few weeks, it’s turned into list of ways and links to ways that you can help out those tragedies. Don’t get me wrong. All of those things are important. Those people need help. They need your help. It’s just getting hard and upsetting. Especially this week.
With that, here are some of the ways you can help those victimized by the shooting in Las Vegas: donate blood. It’s a simple way to help and it’s easy to find your local blood bank. If you’d like to donate, Zappos (which is based in Las Vegas and has been a large part of the local community there) is matching donations up to $1 million. Also, Steve Sisolak, the Clark County Commission Chair is raising money to provide relief and financial support to the victims and families of the shooting.

PS I finally got my photography page up and running! Did you know that I take pictures for bloggers?

  1. UGH it is really hard and upsetting to have this list of tragedies and people that need help. I appreciate seeing people come together, but wouldn’t it be nice in some of these cases if the people who have the power to do so would come together beforehand, so things don’t have to be like this? Always appreciate your notes on good places to help though.

On more trivial matters…I’m intrigued by The Versions of Us – should it go on my list?? And I meant to comment earlier this week: this no-spend October idea is really good timing with my attempt at a 10×10 challenge and feeling like I should just be content in my wardrobe. I’m going to try it! Aside from the packages that will be arriving soon that I ordered before I read your post and agreed that I need to try this… whoops.

    • I’m still reading The Versions of Us (two weeks later….) and I still don’t know if I want to recommend it. It’s certainly not a fast read. It’s long and covers a lot. I’ll let you know when I finish though.

I actually have the same thing with no-spend October! I had a number of packages from September arriving throughout this month, lol. Luckily, I’ve returned a handful of them already. Phew!
