I’m hardcore patting myself on the back right now. Why? My no spending trick actually worked!

But Dana, there are clothes up there! You spent money! Yes, I did. Those were all purchases that happened at the end of May, but didn’t arrive until the beginning of June. And I felt so guilty at the beginning of June that I realized I needed to go on a spending break.

During the May 2017 Budget post, I pinpointed the fact that I tend to do most of my ordering during the daytime. My solution? Using a google chrome extension to block certain sites during the day time. I blocked my big problem ones: Old Navy, J.Crew, J.Crew Factory, and Nordstrom. I know that there are others, but I also know that’s where the bulk of where my money has gone the last few months.

And it worked! Yes, I could have shopped in Google Incognito, but I felt guilty doing that. One of my personal rules that I could buy things during the evening when the block was lifted, but I was too tired most evenings to even look by the time I got home.

Even better, there wasn’t anything that I really felt the need to buy.

It’s also making me wonder what the heck I’m going to do about “the” Nordstrom Anniversary Sale next month. I loved doing the reviews last year, but honestly I don’t really feel like doing a mass order again this year. I’m kind of tempted to just look at their bras and jeans and leave it at that. Maybe I’ll just do a top 10 post? What would you guys want to see? Do you have no desire to read 10 million blog posts about the sale once it starts? Is there a specific focus of the sale you’d rather read about (just reviewing bras, or jeans, or boots)? I’d love to know, since those posts will definitely be for you!

PS I found out a I was ranked a Top 50 Budget Fashion Blog! (I may have done a little happy dance in the bathroom at work when I found out.)
