What dress code was given to you when you began the job?
Business Casual / Casual
What do you generally wear to work?
I love to wear pencil skirts or slacks with a blouse and blazer. Since our clients are young adults and the office is more casual, I have a lot of flexibility with my attire so I quite often wear jeans with blazer and get a chance to dress fresh and trendy.
Where do you like to shop for work attire?
My go to for blazers, skirts and pants are The Limited, Ann Taylor, White House Black Market and Banana Republic. For my casual attire I choose Loft, H&M, Asos, TJ Maxx and Abercrombie. I’m loving all those gorgeous dresses from Cache.

How have you developed your professional style?
â€¦the hard way with tons of fashion faux pas! Once I got them out of the way (lol), I started with basics. A black blazer, a pair of black pants, pencil skirt and two blouses. I learned that less is more at the office. I use very few jewelry if any at all, and over the years I got a sense to play with colors and textures while maintaining a professional look.
In your specific office, what is one thing you would tell a woman to definitely NOT wear?
Do not wear skirts that are shorter than an inch above knee and always have a pair of flats in your car! There are a lot of unexpected property viewings or inspections throughout the day and if you can’t walk on rough surfaces or your skirt is too short when you have to get down on your knees to check the floor, that’s a problem. I also don’t recommend to wear your investment pieces at work unless 1. you have a big meeting or 2. you are absolutely sure that thou will not have to go out to the field.
What is the best “dress code” advice you have ever received?
Less is more. So true! A well tailored suit with a simple cut and delicate pendant makes you look sharp and gorgeous!
What advice would you give to women starting in her career about dressing for her job? Keep it simple and discreet. At the end of the day you want to be recognized for your brain not for your latest find during the big Sunday flash sale. Start with a couple of good quality suits (keep it classy, choose simple cut and conservative colors: black, navy, grey). White button downs are must. Once you got the basics, you can start adding more colors for pants, skirts and blazers and choose trendier pieces. The simple cut suits with dark colors look very sophisticated and professional and this is the kind of look you want to show at meetings with the board or clients. Let your tops, blouses and accessories show most of your personality. However, be careful with accessories! I usually leave my statement necklaces and earrings for date night outs and wear my delicate necklaces and earrings for work.
