Make Money During the Holidays: Giving Assistant

Note: This post is sponsored by Giving Assistant, but as always all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Something Good!
If there’s one thing I don’t like, it’s not saving money. In fact, I’ve basically gotten to the point where if I’m not getting some sort of discount, I’m not shopping. That’s why I’m such a huge proponent of sites that give me cash back for shopping.
The newest site I’ve discovered for cash back? Giving Assistant! Giving Assistant has a two part component to their site. First, by shopping through Giving Assistant and their available stores (there are over 1,000) you receive a percentage cash back on your purchase. To receive your cash back, you can choose to have a quarterly check sent to you or you can have monthly PayPal payments sent to you.

The second component is probably my favorite part. With Giving Assistant, you can also choose your favorite charity and have a percentage of your cash back donated to that charity. Giving Assistant verifies charities by their 990 forms you can choose almost any verified 501c3 to donate to. Additionally, Giving Assistant also donates a meal to a family in need with every verified purchase. Since launching the website, Giving Assistant has already donated 261,584.
After making my first purchase through, I received an email back telling me how much I got back and how much I gave to St. Jude. I also received an email at the end of October letting me know that between myself and the other donors, we were able to give $30 to St. Jude in the month of October.
I know I’m going to be spending a lot of money online this holiday season, so I’m excited to be able to receive a little bit of that money back at the end of the month. Plus, the fact that I can give some back to St. Jude at the same time just makes it even better.
