The Hunt for a Camera Bag

The Hunt for a Camera Bag | Something Good, camera bag, jototes, dslr camera
When I celebrated my 1st Blog-iversary I decided that it was time to get a camera. You know, one of those fancy DSLR cameras. I was excited to get it, but I was also then plagued by the question: how was I going to carry this thing around without breaking it? I wanted to be able to just throw it into my purse and call it a day, but paranoia and fear, you are my friends. Thus, the hunt for the camera bag has began.
I came across Jo Totes and I loved how these bags easily disguised themselves as purses! I contacted the girls over at Jo Totes right away to see if I could test out one of their bags.
I picked out the “Allison Butterscotch” which looked big enough that it would hold all of my things, but not overly cumbersome and feel more like a weekender bag.

I’m trying to not get too punny, but the bag lived up to its name and felt like butterscotch. It’s a faux leather, but it’s still just as smooth and a good limitation. At 10″ x 12″ x 5″, the bag also didn’t overwhelm my petite frame at all.

The inside of the bag is padded and contains removable dividers. The plus side of this was that since they were velcro, I could adjust them as need be. The downside of the velcro is that it catches basically every knit fabric, so I’m hesitant about throwing a scarf or sweater in the bag with my camera.
Additionally, there were also side pockets to store tablets or any other thin devices you may need. This is awesome for me, since I try to always have my kindle or a book on hand whenever I leave my apartment. Since I only have one lens (for now), I’m able to use the extra divided area to store my phone, wallet, and sunglasses.

Overall, I really like this bag and will definitely be using it when I’m running errands around town and I know I’ll need my camera later. The only downside was that after about an hour of wearing it, it really started to pull on my shoulder. This is a tendency I have with a lot of crossbody bags, so I may opt to wear this as just a shoulder bag from now on.

Here’s a sneak peek of how I styled this bag for a outfit shoot with Lauren and come back on Thursday for the full outfit!
