Sunday Book Club: Two Across by Jeff Bartsch

Confession: I have an extreme love of all things quirky, nerdy, and awkward. It’s probably from years of attending a quirky/nerdy/awkward student filled college (Love CMU), but I still embrace it years after graduating (holy crap, it’s actually been years).

With that in mind, when I read the description of Two Across, I was instantly sold. Two super smart but super awkward teenagers compete in a spelling bee and tie? Done and done. Even better? The plot only gets better from there.

Two Across by Jeff Bartsch, book, to read list, tbr list

Both of these teenagers (Vera and Stanley) have mothers with big plans for them, but of course, neither of the teenagers want to follow that path. Their oh-so-simple solution? Get married, take the money from the presents, and use it to live the life they want.

Simple, easy, perfect. Right?

Of course not. It never is.

I’m going to leave you here, but with a few more hints about other things to come in this book: crossword puzzles, road trips, running away, invisible ink, and of course, quirky romance.

I HIGHLY recommend Two Across. It’s the good time you didn’t realize you were missing out on.

Read it if you liked: The Rosie Project and Where’d You Go, Bernadette.

NOTE: I did receive an advanced copy of this book for review, but as always, all opinions are my own.
