29 Thoughts For My 29th Birthday

Well, here it is. The last year of my 20s. I feel like I’m supposed to say something profound here. Or I’m supposed to make a list of the 30 things I want to accomplish before I turn 30. I’m not one for those kind of long term lists.

However, I have had a handful of random thoughts that have been circling around in my head. So I thought I would share those instead. Some of them make sense, some don’t.

29 Thoughts for My 29th Birthday

  1. I still don’t feel like I’m one year away from turning 30.
  2. What the heck is turning 30 supposed to feel like?
  3. When will people stop thinking I’m in high school?
  4. Do you ever actually feel like “an adult”?

  5. Am I supposed to want to own property? Personally, I’m okay with renting right now even though people think I’m throwing my money away.
  6. I still love candy like I’m a little kid. I’m eating gummy bears as I’m writing this.
  7. I feel like I’m ruining my dinner if I have dessert first.
  8. Going to bed at 9pm feels like I blessing.
  9. Getting up early and getting a bunch of things done before 9am feels amazing.
  10. I think going to a club is actually dante’s 9th circle of hell.
  11. I still love a good Disney sing-a-long
  12. Slow walking people are the worst.
  13. I would stress-bake but I don’t have the time.
  14. I need to start doing DIYs again.
  15. Moviepass may have been one of the best purchases I made in the past year.

  16. I would consider buying property solely for the reason of having a separate room for DIY projects.
  17. I get so much gratification from a clean apartment.
  18. Why aren’t young adult books more appreciated?
  19. At what point am I too old to read young adult books? I hope the answer is never.
  20. If John Green can be an old man and write YA books, I could be an old lady and read them, right?
  21. I still only enjoy like half of the classics.
  22. My advice to you: don’t force yourself to try to read the classics, just make sure you’re reading something.

  23. Don’t skip Shakespeare though, if you don’t like it, that just means you had a bad teacher (sorry to English teachers out there).
  24. I think my body thinks it’s a 65 year old lady.
  25. I’m going into my 29th year with serious shoulder pain, ugh.
  26. Last year I actually had so much sugar on my birthday I couldn’t go to sleep. I really need to try to avoid that this year.
  27. I would really love a day to just go off and read all of my favorite books.
  28. Having to think about money may be the worst part of being an adult.
  29. Happy 29th birthday to me! Hopefully this will be the year of more books, less clothes buying, more money making, and more enjoying life!
