The Perfect Skirt to Transition Your Outfit From Summer to Fall

Hello from New Mexico! I’m currently on vacation with my family this week (check out my instagram stories), but I didn’t want you to think I forgot about you.

As promised, I still wanted to share another example of a summer to fall work outfit.

I’ve had this scalloped skirt for a while, but really no idea what to do with it. I think I wore it once with tights last winter and then promptly forgot it existed. I found it again during another closet clean out, but still couldn’t figure out what to do with it. So it sat there.

And then of course, I found the answer one morning on Pinterest.

I couldn’t decide what to wear to work that morning, so I was scrolling through my older boards and pins for inspiration. I think you can guess what happened next. I noticed that I had pinned an outfit that another blogger had posted with the same skirt! Within a few seconds, I already had three different ideas of how I could style that skirt for work that morning.

This skirt has now gone from being worn once to being my fall workhorse.

I feel like it’s almost to the point where I have to hold myself back from wearing it multiple days in a row.

This scalloped skirt has unintentionally become the perfect summer to fall transition piece.

Why? Well, it’s a little heavier, but it’s not too heavy. The red goes great with navy, black, and cognac, so it fits perfectly into fall colors. If I need to wear it with tights, I can, but lately I’ve been going bare legged, which has been perfect for warmer weather. Oh, and if you couldn’t tell from this picture, I can clearly wear it with a cardigan (hello layers!).

This is where I get to the sad part.

Because it took me so long to get around to lovingthis skirt, it’s long gone from stores. But! I found a few decent lookalikes. Some aren’t scalloped, some don’t have buttons. But they all follow the same ideas from above that make them perfect for fall. So shop them below and make your morning a little easier.
