What are Your Professional and Personal Goals?

For this month’s Design to Grow Link Up, we were asked to share our professional and personal goals. I dabbled between coming up with measurable professional and personal goals and subjective goals, but ultimately decided that it was best if I went with a mix of two. Why? My personal goals are more based on a feeling than a number and I want to keep it that way. My professional goals were a little more measurable though and I’m okay with that.

What are Your Professional and Personal Goals? | Something Good

Professional

Blog: A Profitable Side Hustle
As soon as I started writing this, I realized that my professional goals actually broke out into two parts. Why? Well, I’m actually not looking to make my blog a full time job. I love my blog, but it’s a side hustle for me. That’s why my main goal is to make it a profitable side hustle. Something Good is in fact a business and it brings in revenue, but there are also cost. At the end of the day, as long as my year doesn’t end in the red, I’m happy.

Career
As I mentioned above, my professional goal isn’t to have my blog become a full time job. I actually love my current career path fundraising for nonprofits and I have no desire to shift that path right now. My current goal is to work for a corporate foundation (similar to my internship at the American Eagle Outfitters Foundation). I’ve loved all of the steps I’ve taken down this road so far and I can’t wait to see where I go next.

Personal

Be Dana
I’ll admit it, I totally took this idea from Gretchen Rubin. It’s the idea that you’re going to focus on doing the things that make you happy and make you you. I love this idea and I’ve been using it whenever I’m unsure about something or need to make a decision. It’s made me so much happier to do the things that I love and not try to force myself to be somebody else.

Feel More Comfortable in My Own Body
One thing that I try to avoid talking about in this blog is weight loss. It’s such a touchy topic that can go in so many directions. However, it’s something that has been on my mind a little bit. I recently discovered that one of the medications that I was taking had caused me to quickly gain weight. It was an amount that was probably only noticeable to me, but it made me uncomfortable to think about. Since switching to a different medication (after consulting with my doctor of course), I’ve been working to control that amount that I gained. I’m not focusing on losing a certain amount of weight, but instead focusing simply on feeling more comfortable with my body. Pure Barre has been so helpful with this in the last few months and I’ve been noticing a number of changes in my body, from weight loss to muscle gain. I want to continue with this positive streak and see where it goes!

So those are some of my professional and personal goals right now! It’s a little crazy to see how they compare to some of my past goals, but also to see how some things haven’t changed.

I’d love to hear about some of your goals (professional or personal). Share in the comments and maybe we’ll even have something in common!

And don’t forget to check out what the other Design to Grow Link Up bloggers said!
