Friday Night Links | Something Good | A DC Style and Lifestyle Blog on a Budget, Personal Care Products Safety Act

Do Something Good

First, I want to apologize for a lack of Friday Night Links post last week. I was running behind on everything and needed a little bit of a mental break. But we’re back and good to go!

Second, remember how a few weeks ago I discussed March Fourth, Beautycounter’s effort to urge Congress to start regulating the ingredients included in personal care products?

Well, everyone’s texting clearly made a difference because the Personal Care Products Safety Act (S.726) was introduced in the U.S. Senate last week by Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Susan Collins (R-ME). This bill requires the FDA to review five ingredients per year. This will give the agency the power to recall products that harm consumers and raises the safety standard, among other health protective provisions.

This is amazing news and couldn’t have happened without amazing people like you! Want to still show your support? You can participate in a few different ways. First, text “BetterBeauty” to 52886 to ask Congress to act. You can contact your senators directly and ask them to support S.726! Finally, (and this is the most fun one), you can help spread the word of the movement by sharing Beautycounter Red Color Intense Lipstick with a friend. For a limited time, buy 2 lipsticks and save $10! (Who knew lipstick could be revolutionary in 2019, right?)

With all of those opportunities, how could you not join in on something that was created to help protect you?
