Sunday Book Club: Perfect Audiobooks for Traveling

Another season of holidays, another round of traveling. Which really for me means another round of books to read. The past two years I’ve given you two posts of perfect audiobooks for traveling and I still stand by both of them (round one and round two). But what’s another year without new round of suggestions?

I haven’t really listened to as many audiobooks this year, but the ones I have, have been really good. I also have two more on my list that I’ve only heard great things about.

Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

I absolutely loved this book the first time I read it. When my book club decided to read it a few years later, I thought it would be interesting to try it on audio. Best decision ever. The story was even more beautiful on audio. I loved hearing the story be told through the characters voices. Whether its your first time reading the book or your 15th, I would definitely suggest trying audio. (Also, visit the link to read the description.)

The Clancy’s of Queens by Tara Clancy

I heard about the Clancy’s of Queens when I was at Book Riot Live last year. As soon as I heard the author talk, I knew I needed to get it on audio. The author, Tara, wondered why there weren’t any books about working women in Queens. Instead of finding someone to write one, she decided to write it herself. The book is hilarious and you’ll love getting to listen to Tara’s stories as a girl growing up in Queens.

Always a Bridesmaid (for Hire) by Jen Glantz

Okay, if you really want to be that weirdo who bursts out laughing in public (or in the privacy of your own car), this is your audiobook. Jen Glantz is your bridesmaid for hire! And yes, she invented that term as well. I did a longer review of the book here, but her stories will be a great travel companion for you.

With my last two picks, I’ll be honest, I haven’t read yet. But I’m excited to read them! I’ve only heard great things, so I have pretty high expectations.

You Can’t Touch My Hair: And Other Things I Still Have to Explain by Phoebe Robinson

I love Phoebe’s podcast with Jessica Williams and her weird love of U2, so I can’t wait to dive into this book and learn more about her. I actually got a short preview of this book last year and based on that, I know it’s going to be a good read.

Who Thought This Was a Good Idea? by Alyssa Mastromonaco

One of the things I find so interesting about the Obama administration is how young so many of the people in his office were! Alyssa worked with Obama for over 10 years and actually served as his Chief of Staff while he was in the White House. It’s supposed to be hilarious, so I can’t wait to read some of these behind the scenes stories.

So what do you think you’ll read next?

Do you have any audiobooks queued up for your Thanksgiving travels? Or just your Thanksgiving cooking?
