may reading list, open book, glasses laying on book, flowers on book

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Series (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, P.S. I Still Love You, and Always and Forever) by Jenny Han

I absolutely love this series and with the movie coming to Netflix this summer, I figured it was time for a reread. This series might have been even better the second time around and now I’m debating going through them again on audio….

Famous in Love by Rebecca Serle

Did anyone else know that the so terrible it’s good series on Netflix was actually based on a book series?  Me neither! Of course as soon as I found that out, I needed to go read it. The book was exactly what I expected (ridiculous and entertaining) and now I really want my library to get the second one so I can read it. Or for audible to record the second book so I can do that.

The Parking Lot Attendant by Nafkote Tamirat

Have you ever read a book at the wrong time in your life? I think this book may have been that. Or I shouldn’t have started it when I was half awake. I just didn’t get as into it in the beginning which didn’t set me up well for the rest of the book. It was an intriguing concept though, so I think I’ll need to go back around to this book another time.

Emergency Contact by Mary H.K. Choi

If Rainbow Rowell is going to recommend a book, I’m in. This book is definitely going to be a winner with anyone who is a fan of Rowell. It manages to help you fall in love with the characters and their flaws while they fall in love with each other. Choi also finds a way to weave in heavier topics into the narrative without having them take over the entire novel or change the overall tone.

The Power by Naomi Alderman

Holy….something. I think if you were to read this book and The Handmaid’s Tale in the same week, your brain would be spinning. My brain is still spinning from thinking about this book. It covers the fascinating idea of what if women were given the power to “zap” individuals and essentially rise in power. It’s a 100% fiction novel told from varying view points. I listened to it, which I would suggest as well, if you’re interested.

When Life Gives You Lululemons by Lauren Weisberger

(I was given this advanced copy in exchanged for an honest review)

Yes! A new Devil Wears Prada book! This one however, follows Emily in her post-Runway life. I have to say, I knew I loved Emily, but I don’t think I realized how much I LOVED Emily until this book. I have a full review coming closer to the release date, but just trust me, get excited.

Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney

I posted a review for this one on instagram. All I have to say is, phew. The twists just get kept on coming for this book! At a certain point I gave up on guessing and just watched it all play out.

An American Marriage by Tayari Jones

This novel follows a newlywed African American couple in Atlanta whose lives are thrown into chaos when the husband is falsely accused of a crime and put in jail. The novel follows them both in the following years to see how their lives progress after this occurrence. I didn’t get as into the book at first, but about 20% of the way through, something just clicked and all of a sudden, I was just pulled in. I felt so invested in Roy’s life and what was going to happen to him. The writing was absolutely beautiful as well. If you’re on the hunt for your next read, I’d aim for this one!
