This budget is too on the nose right now with what I’ve been wearing lately. Just a lot of neutrals and avoiding color all over the place (unless it’s blue). It probably explains why those have been the colors I’ve ended up buying.

My first month with my new budget and I came in under budget. Though, I kind of feel like I cheated since I had a really good month with selling on Poshmark. Otherwise I would have definitely been over budget….so is that why I feel like I cheated? Now, this is part of my budgeting and a balancing I’m allowing myself to do, but I think I was hoping to maybe do less shopping?

But, I think may also be beating myself up a little bit more than I deserve. Why? Well, I only purchased half of these items this month. The other half was carry over purchases from December. I also finally returned a lot of items that had been sitting around my apartment waiting for me to decide if I was going keep it or return it.

So after experimenting this month, what am I planning to do with February? First, stay on top of my returns (which I’m normally pretty good about, but still). Second, update my clothing tracking sheet as soon as I buy something. This helps me keep an eye on my budget and see when I’m spending too much. Third, go through my closet again. I’ve been itching to get rid of more things lately. Ever since my boyfriend moved in back in December, the closet has felt super crowded and I hate it. I can’t throw away his stuff though, so it’s time to clear out mine. Plus, I know there’s definitely things in there that I can get rid of, so I might as well do it.

Those are my three goals, and hopefully I’ll stick to them!

What has your January shopping looked like? Have you purchased anything fun this month?
