I don’t know what happened, but all of a sudden these super cute J.Crew tees popped up along with a major sale. It was clearly time to try some things on.

J.Crew Tees Review

J.Crew Mercantile faux-wrap mini dress in blossom, Size 0

I didn’t want to like this dress. In fact, when I tried it on at first, I thought I really didn’t like it. The v-neck went down so low and the chest was HUGE. I couldn’t figure out how all of these girls had gotten it and looked so good. Then I realized, there’s an eyelet hook right in the middle of the v-neck to hold it in place! Once I hooked that, it was perfect. All of a sudden, I loved how the dress looked. It was so cute and fit perfectly! I’m totally on board with this dress now.

Now, I just need to talk myself out of buying it in a bunch of other colors. I do want to give you the heads up about two things though. The dress says Mercantile, but I’ve seen it on sale on  J.Crew Factory website and in stores at J.Crew (I’ve linked to all three in the widget at the bottom of the post). Second, the fabric is different with every color/print. Some of the colors are a little heavier, but others are a little lighter/softer cotton.

Verdict: Keep, I can’t help it.

J.Crew Embroidered flower sweatshirt, XS

I thought I would like this sweatshirt more. It was comfortable and the fit was okay. But in person, I didn’t really like the design as much. It didn’t flow as much as i thought it would and it was a bit jarring.

DC woman blogger wearing J.Crew Tie-waist pocket T-shirt white

J.Crew Tie-waist pocket T-shirt, ivory/white, xs

When you can’t find the perfect peplum…you improvise! This tie waist waist top was the surprisingly perfect. It fit to a tee (ha ha) and the pull tie was a fun way to turn it into a peplum. This J.Crew tee runs true to size, so if you want (which you should), order your normal size.

Verdict: Keep

DC woman blogger wearing J.Crew Tie-waist pocket T-shirt in stripes

J.Crew Tie-waist pocket T-shirt in stripes, Shale Blue Coral, XS

I’ve been looking for a new red striped top and this looked like the perfect solution. It was! The fit is the same as above, but I wanted to comment on why the color is noted as “shale blue coral.” If you look closely, you’ll see that the stripes aren’t actually white, they’re more gray-ish. In person it’s a gray/blueish color, which actually looks pretty nice.

DC woman blogger wearing J.Crew sweater tank and a list of the best J.Crew Tees

J.Crew Sweater tank, XS

Why do I want a sweater tank? Does a sweater tank even make sense during the summer? Have a warm midsection with cold arms? Okay, I’m going to stop questioning myself right now. Anyways, I don’t love the yarn with this sweater. It wasn’t very soft (which I’m very passionate about). Also, I felt like from the front view, the sweater sat kind of lumpy on me. It’s not reflected that well in the picture, but it was more visible in person. If you’re interested in the tank though, know that it is loose, which makes it breathable.

A list of the best J.Crew Tees: DC woman blogger wearing J.Crew Pocket T-shirt bodysuit white

J.Crew Pocket T-shirt bodysuit, White, XXS

My love of bodysuits won’t die and J.Crew tees for the win! This one? Brilliant.  A plain white tee bodysuit and I never have to worry about my tee coming untucked again. Let’s talk sizing on this shirt. I had to size down since the torsos run long for regular sizing. The t-shirt is also fitted (as you can see), with longer sleeves. It’s incredibly comfortable though and for $17, it was a steal.

Verdict: Keep

DC woman blogger wearing Treasure & Bond Blouson Tank Midi Dress sage

Treasure & Bond Blouson Tank Midi Dress, XXS Sage

I was so excited for this dress and it looked beautiful online. It was just as beautiful in person with flowing fabric. But sadly, my shortness (5″0′) strikes again. As you can see, the shoulders were way too long and there was just too much fabric to spare. If you’re 5″6′ though, you need to go pick up this dress, because it’s amazing and flowy.

DC woman blogger wearing Topshop Cutout Side Midi Slipdress blue

Topshop Cutout Side Midi Slipdress, Size 0, Blue

I actually tried this dress on in two sizes, but I forgot to get a picture of the larger size. I wasn’t super pleased with either size, but this one was the better fitting of the two. With the cutouts on the other one, there was a significant amount of space between my body and the cutouts and it just awkwardly hung there. However, this dress is just a little too tight on my lower half. I really just couldn’t win with it (though I guess getting it in black would hide some of the tightness). It’s a fun cut, but if you’re interested in it, I would suggest ordering more than one size to compare.

DC woman blogger wearing Old Navy Button-Front Tencel Utility Romper

Old Navy Button-Front Tencel Utility Romper, XSP

I feel like my hunt to find a romper is like trying to make fetch happen. It just never seems to work. This one just felt a little too small: the bust was tight and it was too short. Also, I couldn’t figure out how I would style it. I’m all about easy casual pieces and for some reason, this one just seemed more difficult. So sorry romper, but it’s not going to work for me. If you like it though, I do want to let you know, that while it looks like chambray, it’s actually tencel, which is even softer.

Verdict: Return

That’s it for all of the J.Crew tees and other pieces. Have you been shopping lately? What have you picked up? Is there anything I should check out?
