I teased this post on Instagram and now it’s finally time. The J.Crew dressing room fail. I have to admit, I don’t think I’ve ever quite failed this big on a shopping trip. By that I mean every single piece I picked up not only was a dud, it just got worse. But I’ll let you be the judge.

The J.Crew Dressing Room Fail.

At first glance, this dress isn’t too bad. The waist doesn’t hit at the correct spot, but it’s close enough. It’s supposed to be a midi dress and it hits about two inches below where it should hit (to be expected since I’m short. What you can’t see? The top is huge. You can kind of tell if you look at my shoulder in the picture on the left, but there is so much fabric sitting up there. There’s also so much excess fabric around my bust. I just don’t even know what to do with all of it.

Verdict: It didn’t even leave the dressing room.

Oddly enough, when I posted this fair on instagram, I actually got a compliment from a guy friend about it. So at first glance, again, not too bad. The issues with this one were minor. Just a little too long and just a little too wide. It could be fixable by going down a size, but I’m not that devoted. Also, online this color looks really bright. In person, it’s much more of a mustard yellow.

Verdict: back to the racks.

Oh my god this dress. Do I even need to tell you what’s wrong? I grabbed my size, but I look like a kid playing dress up in their mom’s closet. What’s with the vanity sizing J.Crew?

At least the print is pretty?

Verdict: immediately handed it back to the sales rep.

Hello potato sack, I am your master. Okay, actually, I kind of liked this one. It looked a little sack like on me, but I’m just too pale to pull it off. Honestly, if it came in another color, I would be all over this in a petite size. I especially loved the buttons down the back. The colors on me just made it look too much like I was wearing a sack.

Verdict: Back to the rack.

J.Crew bell sleeve top with piping, XS

I think this top was the most J.Crew dressing room fail of the all. I had so much hope for this top and it dashed it so much. Why? First, the bell sleeve started a bit too high. But that’s not the real problem. The real problem is that the top should have been fitted. But alas, it was a loose, boxy cut. By making it a loose, boxy cut, it completely throws off the proportions for the top and makes the bell sleeves look off. J.Crew could have easily fixed this by keeping the material and just making the cut a little more fitted.

Verdict: disappointingly giving back to the sales person.

At this point, I had to end my shopping trip. I couldn’t even bare to try anything else on and I definitely wasn’t going to buy anything. I made the returns that I had come to the store to make and left my J.Crew dressing room fail behind me.
