Do Good
While I was at SBSCon, I was given the opportunity to speak with an employee of espnW and hear more about some of their amazing philanthropic programs. While I plan to go into more detail about these programs in later posts, one program that I wanted to share was the Sports 4 Life grant program which they did in partnership with the Women’s Sports Foundation.

What is Sports 4 Life? It’s a new national grants program to try to increase the participation of African-American and Hispanic girls in sports. Why? Well it has been proven that by keeping the women involved with these programs, they’ve seen the increase of confidence, a more positive body image, a higher graduation ration, and a greater likelihood to attend college (among so many other benefits).

Who applies to these grants? Nonprofit schools, nonprofit organizations, or amateur sports leagues with a 501(c)(3) status. If chosen, these organizations are awarded grants of $5,000 and $10,000 to be used for coaching, curriculum, equipment, transportation and/or team building activities.

How can you get involved? As always, donating is the easiest way.

But you could also apply if you work for an eligible nonprofit or pass along their site to someone you know that is. You can also go even more local and find a girls sports team in your area to help support! Let me know if you end up getting involved!
