"I thought that if I couldn't have her, I could at least have my first love- being on stage.":

Do Something Good

I’ve mentioned it a handful of times on here, but before I went to college and then entered the working world, my life was theater. I spent my evenings at rehearsals and my days reading and memorizing new plays. I could name all the Shakespeare plays and on weekends my friends and I would go see shows for fun. We were those weird kids who actually enjoyed Shakespeare and I love every minute of it.

That’s why I was so excited when my friend Grace posted a link to this Kickstarter. A senior in high school who is currently in the same acting program I was in in high school is currently trying to raise money so she and a group of teenagers can put together an outdoor production of Macbeth this summer (Macbeth was also my first Shakespeare show, so that makes me love this project even more). Thanks to my time in theater growing up, I’ve realized the impact that it can really have on kids lives. It gave us a safe place to go after school and helped us build confidence we never realized we could have. If you have some time, check out the Kickstarter and maybe give them a few dollars. It would mean the world to me to know that this group of kids can continue to have similar positive experiences to the one I had.
*I would like to mention that I was not asked to advertise this campaign nor am I receiving any sort of merit or compensation for doing so. I truly believe in the work that these kids are doing and I want to support them however I can.
