Remember the good old days when I had enough energy to get a post done on time? I think that was last week, but probably not. So my apologies for taking forever to get this done. With the weather being so up and down in D.C., it’s basically been migraine central around here. If you’ve never had a migraine, I won’t pain you with a full description of the pain, but basically staring at a computer screen during a migraine is torture. So I’ve been working around my migraine’s schedule, not my own.

But that’s not what I actually wanted to talk about today. Let’s talk about happier things, like jean jackets and all of the ways you can style them.

Denim Jacket Outfit Ideas

Everyone is wearing jean jackets right now. I went to to an event a few weeks ago and my boyfriend pointed out that three girls around us were wearing dress and denim jacket combinations. But you need to remember that while they look great and while they’re great outfit finishers, they aren’t appropriate all of the time.

When are Denim Jackets Appropriate

I’m not sure what’s easier to talk about, when they are appropriate or when they aren’t.

Casual Events

Anything casual is a “yes definitely.” Running errands, casual lunches, whatever other casual things you do in your life, denim jackets are okay.

Nice-Ish Events

Here’s where it can get tricky, but it doesn’t have to! So during the summer when you have an outfit “topper” I always feel like you have two main options: a cardigan or a jean jacket. The nicer the event is, the more you should lean towards the cardigan. For example, weddings on a farm: jean jacket, weddings in a hotel cardigan.

But there are so many nice-ish events when it’s okay. Brunches, outdoor dinners (most outdoor events really), a lot of summer events. Honestly, I love how good a dress looks with a jean jacket.
