December 2015 Budget

Sorry for the -unanncounced disappearance this week! I wasn’t originally planning on it, but the mini-break felt pretty nice. I finally got the chance this week to catch up on some things around my apartment and explore DC a little on my day off!

Sigh, I ended this quarter totally and completely going over budget. It’s funny though, because I don’t feel like I actually shopped that much. A lot of my purchases came from Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping and I’ve finally been able to fill some holes in my budget. And by some, I actually mean most of them!

Now that I’ve finally finished my quarterly budget, it’s time to figure out where to go for 2016. I’ve tried monthly, quarterly, and a yearly budget, all with varying, but similar results. For 2016, I’ve decided to stick with the quarterly budget, but I think I’m going to shift the months a little so they’re more in line with the seasons. One thing that I noticed a lot this past year was that my spending months were a little heavy on the starting month of each quarter which made the following months a little difficult. Hopefully by shifting this, my spending will be a little more distributed.

So what does that mean, money wise? Well, my budget will go like this:
January – February: $400
March – May: $500
June – August: $500
September – November: $500
December – February (2017): $500

Yes, the fact that I just typed 2017 there freaked me out a little bit….but…well, here goes nothing!
