What are you doing for Thanksgiving this year? I know that last year’s Thanksgiving was a little odd for everyone. But maybe somethings will look a little less different this year? I know that there will still be less traveling and gatherings. But that doesn’t mean you have to be any less festive this year than other years.

There are still plenty of things you can do to keep this Thanksgiving just as enjoyable, no matter where you are. From decorating your house early in November to cooking your favorite dishes. You can also dess up for Thanksgiving, you can still easily enjoy this holiday this year.

Plus, one of the best things about Thanksgiving is that it gives you the chance to show off all of the great fall fashion trends (but don’t wear them all at once!). You can put on your outfit and show off your plaid skirt, favorite boots, or sweater dresses! Or you can just put on your coziest sweater for Thanksgiving dinner and save extra room for pumpkin pie. Either way, you can’t go wrong.

I pulled together some of my favorite outfits from the past few years to help you this year. I thought sharing how I pulled them together and how I plan to use them for inspiration this year would help you put together your own cute outfits!

Cute Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

There are so many ways to put together your thanksgiving outfits. So, I decided to divide this up by clothing items. So we’ll do denim outfits, skirts and dresses, and then dressy pants.

Outfits with Denim

Dressing up is great, but who can resist just lounging around in jeans? (Yes, I lounge around in jeans. It’s called JEGGINGS people!) I’ll pair my jeans with a nice cozy sweater, like my fisherman sweater below. Then I’ll add a cute pair of flats and just call it a day.

Here’s a little extra tip for you: if you wear dark denim, you’ll automatically look a little dressier.

I absolutely love the idea of a fun patterned sweater with jeans. It can looked polished or dressed down depending on your choice choice, but either way, you’ll look good!

Do you still wear colored denim? I go back and forth on it. But I think that this “army green” color lives in a pretty safe space. Depending on your pants, it can also look like you dressed up a little bit more with colored denim. I paired this with a classic sweater, the Jackie cardigan. This is a great piece for any outfit. It makes your outfit look a little classier, and you can find it in so many colors.

Doesn’t this sleeveless trench just scream fall vibes? Now, this exact trench is pretty old, but I think that any sleeveless trench will give you the same effect. Then, pair it with fun boots for a pop of color!

This outfit could definitely be used for the December holidays. However, I love the idea of using it for Thanksgiving too. The little peplum on the sweater gives it a flounce and makes it more fun than just your regular cable sweater. If you want to sub out the plaid shoes for something a little less…plaid, you could wear some cute cognac ankle boots for a perfect fall look.

Outfit Ideas with Skirts and Dresses

Are you going to be dressing up this year? Maybe you’ll just be staying at home or maybe you’re doing a super small family dinner, but either way, there’s no harm in wanting to look cute!

This denim dress is long gone, but there are so many awesome denim dresses available this fall. From swing dresses to shirt dresses, you can find any denim dress you want. I then styled it with what I figured was the epitome of fall fashion: cognac booties and a plaid scarf. Could I be more basic? (Well, maybe if I was carrying a Starbucks cup.)

This is the most parent-approved dinner outfit there is out there. In fact, show up with a pumpkin pie in your hands, and you’ll probably win over your significant other’s parents within minutes. The formula for this outfit: fitted crew neck sweater and a midi skirt. Then either pair it with ankle boots or low pumps. So easy, anyone could do it.

Okay, so this outfit is a little less parent friendly, and a little more Friendsgiving. Or if it’s just you and your significant other home for thanksgiving. While the skirt is a little short, I love styling the short skirt with a turtleneck and tights for contrast. Also, it gave me a little bit of a 60s/70s vibe, which I really liked.

PS, if you want instantly long legs: black tights and black heeled ankle boots.

The family friendly outfit!

I absolutely love plaid sweater dresses and I know that good ones are hard to come by. I featured this dress in this post, but I have a lot more budget-friendly options linked above. Since Thanksgiving is kind of the endcap to fall, wearing a plaid dress is a perfect way to cap it off!

It only took 31 years, but I finally found a great sweater dress! I’ll talk about it more in future posts, but a sweater dress is a perfect option for Thanksgiving. Why? Well if your sweater dress is nice and loose, it gives you room to stuff your face and stomach! I paired mine with over the knee boots to keep my legs warm, but you could easily substitute tights and ankle boots. Or just ankle boots if if it’s warm enough where you are!

Cute Thanksgiving Outfits with Dressy Pants

I know that not everyone loves skirts and dresses so I through in a couple of pants options here as well!

Do corduroys count as dressy pants? I have no idea, but let’s go with yes, for this post’s sake. After all, I definitely wouldn’t call them denim! Also, if you’re wearing white cords, then I would definitely consider these fancy pants. Oh, and if anyone gives you crap about wearing white after Labor Day, just tell them this is winter white.

I’m in love with this long sleeve sweater. It’s super cozy and it’ll also get you in the mood for family dinner. These pants are also great for thanksgiving because they’re stretchy AND they have the nice high waist panel to keep you tucked in.

Cozy Clothing Options

So I realized that I left one important option out: cozy clothes! I know a lot of people will be staying home this year, so cozy clothes will be more important this year than ever. Below are some of my favorite cozy pieces available this year. Just wear one or pair a few together. You’re not going out, so who will know?!
