Before I start today’s post, I need to share something with you guys. I’m equal parts fascinated and absolutely terrified of capsule wardrobes.
I love the idea of them, I love looking at collections bloggers pull together (like Anne’s!), and I was a devoted UnFancy follower when Caroline was blogging.
However, was it for me? I was terrified to even think of that. Growing up, I never had a “winter” or “summer” wardrobe. We kept all of our clothes in one place and you picked from whatever was weather appropriate for that day (living in Wisconsin, the weather was always up in the air, so packing away your sweaters in March when it could snow in April was kind of a no go). I was very use to layering a “summer” tank over another shirt and under a heavier cardigan to make it work for chilly days. After living with that for 18 years, I took it with me and never saw a need to pack everything away. So the idea of picking a certain number of items and then only wearing that for a limited amount of time? Completely foreign. Not good, not bad, just different.
I think that may have also been what spurred my fascination with capsule wardrobes when they started popping up everywhere. It made me think more and more, should I do this? Could I do this? Then I looked at all of the upfront work you had to do and decided I would look at it for another time.

Cue Capsules by Cladwell (the lovely sponsor for today’s post). Cladwell found a way to make it easy to put together a capsule wardrobe. So easy in fact that I was able to sit down and walk myself through the steps (semi) fear free.
Capsules by Cladwell leads you through a closet clean-out (which I felt I could skip thanks to my MANY frequent clean-outs and tossing), and then help you figure out what you like (from colors to outfit inspiration).

After that, you get to tell them a little bit about yourself and what type of activities you need clothing for. I think my favorite part was picking the colors from their color palette and realizing what colors truly populated my wardrobe (a lot of black, white, and navy).

After all of this, they then tell you what they suggest for your capsule wardrobe that will not only fit with your lifestyle but also allow for the most mixing and matching. What I love is that most of the time, it ends up pulling out pieces that you are likely to already have. Plus, they then help you pull together a shopping list if you have some gaps you want to fill in.

The only thing that I found a little frustrating was that I wasn’t able to create multiple capsules. If you wanted to make a different one, you had to delete your current capsule an start from scratch. [EDIT: My contact at Cladwell just let me know that they are currently working on letting people create multiple capsules!!

Update (3/22/16): Cladwell now allows you to make more than one capsule!]

Overall? I love this site and I planning on using it a lot in the future to put together capsules for my work clothes. I have a feeling that it’s going to make my mornings at lot easier and hopefully I’ll have an update to share with you in the future
