Changing Up My Workout Plan

Note: This post is sponsored by Himalayan Water but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Everyone likes to wait until New Years to make their resolutions and changes. But me? I’m fine with making changes year round. No time like the present, right? And since we’re moving into the Fall right now, it seems like the perfect time to change up my fitness routine. I’ve been itching to try some of the newer classes that everyone has been talking about and mix up what I’m doing. Since I’m working with Himalayan Water to talk about leading an active and balanced lifestyle today, now seemed like the perfect time to tell you what I’m changing.

My Active Life

The Old Fitness Plan

I’ll be honest, my old fitness plan was pretty boring. It was one fitness class four to five times a week. The class was effective, but a little boring after a while. It also was in a different neighborhood, so it involved a little bit of travel on my end. I would also try to throw some extra walking in there, but I had been getting really lazy about that.

The New Fitness Plan

I figured if I was going to shake things up a little bit, I might as well get completely into it and fully shake things up. If I’m being 100% transparent, I have a little extra motivation behind it. In the last few months or so, I had gained some extra weight in my complacency. Nothing major by any means, but it was a sign to me that I has stopped paying attention to what my body needed. So yes, while I would like to get rid of those extra pounds, I would also like to have a little fun while doing it.

Work Out Classes

Orange Theory

Have you heard of Orange Theory? I knew so many people who were obsessed with it. Well, it truthfully scared me. I heard the word running, and all my bad knees and I heard was run away. Well, they opened up a location closer to me and I had the opportunity to try some free classes…Guys, I really liked it! It brought back the cardio I had been missing in my life, plus, I don’t actually have to run! Instead, they let me do walking at incredibly steep incline, which I’m TOTALLY okay with. I’m going to keep going with those classes twice a week for a while, so we’ll see how that goes.

ClassPass

There are a ton of other classes I want to try and I figured ClassPass was the easiest way to do that. I signed up with a friend’s referral code and actually ended up getting $40 off my first month, so it was only $5 (which was amazing!!). I’m going to use that to try Solidcore (which I’ve really wanted to go back to) and Barre3, which I’ve been promising Heather, I would go to with her.

Strength Training

My boyfriend is really into strength training and has been encouraging me to try it as well. I was a little hesitant at first, but I have to admit, after a few session, I kind of like it! I’m still not great at it, but it’s been fun to try something new and actually utilize the gym in my building. Plus, now I can actually say “do you even lift, brah?”

Fitbit

I swear, I’m not only getting a Fitbit so I can compete against my mom in daily steps. I’m just sick of only being able to use my phone to track my steps. A girl can’t be attached to her phone all of the time! Annoyingly though, the first Fitbit I ordered was broken, so now I’m waiting on the replacement to arrive. Anyways, when I had my phone, I was trying to get up to 10,000 steps a day, but I wasn’t really pushing myself to hit it.

Now I’m trying a little bit harder. I’m suggesting to my boyfriend that we can walk instead of Uber when it’s feasible, I’m trying to walk from the metro to work instead of bus, and hop on the treadmill when I’m catching up on shows instead of the couch. Okay, I haven’t actually done that last one yet, but I’m hoping to. I have gone on the treadmill a few times when I’m really into my audiobook so I can keep listening to it. That’s really helped with up’ping my step count.

Himalayan Water

How has Himalayan water factored into this? Well, I can’t accomplish any of these goals if I’m not hydrated! Plus, the more superior your hydration is, the better your fitness experience is going to be. And Himalayan Water knows about superior hydration. It contains a balanced pH and the ideal proportions of minerals and electrolytes because of it’s 20 year filtration journey through the mountains, through an underground aquifer, followed by a layer of clay and then rests in a confined aquifer 400 feet below ground. This water doesn’t even see the light of day until it’s bottled at the base of the Himalayan!
