Do Something Good

For Mid – October Friday Night Links (yeah, it’s already the middle of October), I wanted to take a step back and just look at some of the Do Something Good topics and links from the last few weeks. It can be kind of easy for people who weren’t directly effected by tragedies to move on from it shortly after. Everyone gets wrapped up in their own lives and it can seem so far away. It’s sad but true and I know I’ve done it as well.

However, many of the victims from the past few months are still rebuilding and need help. Therefore, I wanted to give you a few quick links of ways that you can still help:

Hurricane Harvey: NPR’s list is from last month, however all of the charities and resources are still relevant.

Hurricane Maria (and the Puerto Rico rebuild): PBS’s list is still a great resource.

Tfamilies of the victims of the Las Vegas shooting: donate to your local blood bank and Zappos is still matching donations up to $1 million to help those affected.

I also wanted to call some attention to a project that a current student at my Alma Mater put together to help Puerto Rico. She was working to raise enough money to fly down to Puerto Rico with 2,500 lbs of aid and then fly 7 to 8 victims back to the hospital. She’s already brought 7 victims to the hospital in Miami and she’s continuing to help. Check out her fundraising page to follow her progress.
