Everlane The Mid-Rise Skinny Jean Regular, 25

The Everlane Denim is finally here! I ordered two pairs the morning they went live, because yes, I was that excited. So here’s my review of Everlane Denim. It was weird switching over to denim that wasn’t a jegging, but I have to admit, I love how good they make my legs look. The waist was a little tighter than I expected, but I have a feeling it’ll loosen a little bit after a few wears. Also, these pants are perfect for petite gals! Why? Well, the regular has a 28 inch inseam. They are the perfect length for me. If you have a tendency to go between sizes, I’d say to order both sizes to try on, or size up. Finally, I absolutely love this color. It’s the perfect light wash and I loved the fading at the top.

Verdict: Keep!

Now for the high-rise skinny! I have to be honest, I’ve never worn a high rise jean before, so I can’t decide how I feel about them. They fit just as well as the mid-rise and the dark wash has a very sleek look. I’d love to know your opinion about them though!

Verdict: I don’t know!

AEO Denim X Jegging Gleam White, 2 Short

They fit, they’re great, and they aren’t see through! AEO did such a smart thing by having no pockets on the front. Those are the first indicator of a pair of white jeans being see through. No pockets, no problem! In addition to that, the fit is great and the jeans are comfortable!

Verdict: Keep

AEO Denim X Jegging Worn Out Blue, 2 Short

Yes, appropriate ripped denim! I think that this is the lighter color that I was going for (I think I’m giving up on light wash denim for now). I also love that the rips aren’t too ridiculous. The only thing is that I can’t decide if this pair is too similar to my pair from yesterday’s post.

Verdict: Still deciding.

AEO Denim X Jegging Misty Sky, 2 Short

All I could think when I tried these on was, I’m too old for these rips. The color might have been fine otherwise, but I swear, the lighter you go, the more rips there are.

Verdict: Return.

Shopping Reviews, Vol. 48: Everlane Denim | Something Good, @danaerinw , J.Crew Reese Pants
J.Crew Reese Pants, 0P

Could it be? A pair of joggers/loose pants that finally work?! I think so! I ordered these on a whim from Nordstrom. They were out of the black, but since I figured they wouldn’t work out, I decided to order the navy. Much to my surprise, these actually fit pretty well! They’re a little tighter around certain parts of my thighs, but other than that, the petite sizing was perfect. They hit the ankle nicely and the seam up the side blends in well with the pants. Additionally, the waist is stretchy, so if you need to eat a big lunch, that’s okay.

The black just came into stock though, so I might order those and see if I like them more than the blue.

Verdict: Waiting for the black.

Shopping Reviews, Vol. 48: Everlane Denim | Something Good, @danaerinw , Old Navy Pleated Midi Skirt
Old Navy Pleated Midi Skirt, XS

I thought that J.Crew Factory skirt meant my luck had turned. No dice my friend, the curse of the pleated skirt lives on. Those pleats just don’t sit well on my hips. I wish it would work though, because other than that, the length is lovely, the skirt is light-weight, and the fit is pretty spot on.

Verdict: Return

Shopping Reviews, Vol. 48: Everlane Denim | Something Good, @danaerinw , Old Navy Sleeveless Ponte-Knit Shift Dress
Old Navy Sleeveless Ponte-Knit Shift Dress, XSP

Old Navy was so close to making this dress perfect, but they messed it up. We can go over the good stuff first though. The fabric is heavier, which means that the dress has some structure to it and will be good with tights in the winter (aka it’ll keep you a little warmer). The purple color isn’t too aggressive. Even though it’s a shift dress, it does have a slight shape to it. Where did they go wrong? They decided to fold the fabric under on the shoulders, making the straps of the dress sit funny. If you look closely at my shoulders, you’ll see that the dress shoulders are about 1/2 inch up. That won’t be fixed by pulling the dress down, that’s just how it sits. And that’s not going to work for me. (Also, um, what is this problem? How did they not notice it?!)

Verdict: Return.

Shopping Reviews, Vol. 48: Everlane Denim | Something Good, @danaerinw , English Factory Bell Sleeve Eyelet Top
English Factory Bell Sleeve Eyelet Top, XS

Like everything on Shopbop, it looked cuter on the site. The fabric was so thin it was basically see through and I didn’t love it enough to keep it and wear it with a tank. Also, all of those eyelets are cut outs. I’m also not a fan of the semi-puffy shoulder. If that floats your boat though, go ahead.

Verdict: Return

Shopping Reviews, Vol. 48: Everlane Denim | Something Good, @danaerinw , Madewell Modern Tie Front Tee
Madewell Modern Tie Front Tee, XS

I’m all about this top. They used a heavier knit instead of cotton, so the shirt has a little more structure to it than your basic tee. Basically, I love it.

Madewell Whisper Cotton V-Neck Pocket Tee in Abilene Stripe, XS

Another Madewell basic, another striped tee for the collection. I mean, I don’t have a red striped tee, so I clearly need this one…right?

Verdict: Keep

It’s time for another shopping reviews post!

  1. Hello, tie-front top twin! I’m kind of scared of the high-rise jean myself, but they would go great with that top… Though I was kind of wondering if, proportionally, the mid-rise jean does for us short girls what the high-rise jean does for others? I’m contemplating some from Madewell.

    • Haha you and Anna have the same idea! I was wondering the same thing about the high rise jeans, but these did go a good inch higher than the mid rise. The difference was primarily sitting on the belly button vs sitting completely above the belly button. I kind of like them, but I’m still a little unsure (mostly because I’ve never worn high rise before).

  2. I love the high-rise denim on you! I bet it would be super cute with that tie-front top.
