It’s time for me to get real nerdy with you here. Now that I’ve been working full time for a while and in charge of my own finances, I’ve gotten really into managing my money and finding smart ways to save money. Besides a wide variety of reasons from paying off student loans to, well, affording my rent, wisely spending and saving of my money has become more and more important to me.
One of the reasons for that? I want to be able to start traveling a little bit more. I love exploring my city, but I have friends in other cities that I want to see too! From Miami to Portland, I have so many places and people that I want to see. However, with working for a nonprofit and living in a super expensive city, it’s not that easy.
I know I can’t just get up and go, so I’m going to have to implement some saving strategies first. I’m no expert though, so I’ve started reaching out to those who know what they’re doing. Some of the advice I’ve received as been great. For example: why not set up a bank account and name it after whatever you’re trying to save money for? Then consistently put small amounts of money into that account. Every time you see where it’s going, you’ll get a little excited that you’re that much closer to your goal.
I’ve really loved talking about finances with you all today! I’ve only really scratched the surface though and I’m planning on diving in even more. Would you be interested in seeing more posts about finances here?
