Mixed Berry Chocolate Ice Cream

I think I’ve maybe mentioned it one or two times on here, but I love ice cream. Like, it’s practically a food group for me. But, with trying to be healthier, I’ve been trying to limit my Ben and Jerry’s intake. Luckily, I was introduced to banana nice cream and it’s basically saved everything.
You’ve probably heard of this concept already: freeze some bananas, throw them in a food processor and boom you have ice cream. Yup, it’s that easy and awesome. But personally, I don’t really want banana ice cream, so I’ve been playing around with different combinations of flavors. I’ve tried regular vanilla, chocolate, and even a cookies and cream. The point is, it’s a disturbingly good, guilt free substitute for ice cream.
For today’s post, I wanted to share a new flavor that I’ve been playing around with. Last year when I visited the MetroCooking DC Show, I was introduce to Graeter’s and their delicious blackberry raspberry ice cream. I was determined to find a way to recreate it, but did you know that black raspberries are actually pretty hard to find? It was a little disappointing. So I played around with the idea and decided that the blackberries/raspberries combination was my best alternative.
Mixed Berry Chocolate Ice Cream | Something Good, banana ice cream, nice cream, healthy dessert, dairy free
Since I used frozen raspberries when I first tried it out my result was a little closer to sherbet, but just as delicious. I think for future tries, I throw in an extra banana for some creamier texture, but feel free to play around with it and let me know what works best for you!
Ingredients
2 Bananas
1 Cup of Raspberries
1/2 Cup of Blackberries
1 Teaspoon of Vanilla
1 chocolate bar or a handful of chocolate pieces
Directions
1. Chopped up the bananas into slices, place in a zip-locked bag and freeze for at least 4 hours.
2. Once the bananas are frozen, place them, the berries, and the vanilla in a food processor.
3. Mix on high speed until fully mixed (your ice cream will turn a bright purple color) and then remove from your food processor into a freezer safe container.
4. Chop your chocolate into small pieces (or shavings depending on your preferences) and stir into your ice cream.
Enjoy and let me know what you think! I may share my favorite chocolate recipe in the upcoming weeks, so make sure to look out for that!
