The B Bar Link Up: Summer Essentials

This month for the B Bar Link Up, we’re going a little lighter and talking about summer essentials. I was debating putting up some of my essential blogging apps or podcasts (both of which can come to the blog soon :D), but since it is Wednesday, I figured I would share some of the things that were on my Wishlist at one point and you should add to yours too.
summer essentials
1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7
1. A good book – I love love love reading and there’s nothing I love more than laying out in the sun with a good book. To All the Boys I Loved Before was one of my favorites from last summer and the sequel to it just came out!
2. Sunnies – After living in Pittsburgh for six years (land of gray and cloudy), I swear my eyes have the hardest time dealing with the sun. Because of that, I try to carry a pair of sunglasses with me where ever I go. I’ve tried the aviator trend, but I always end up going back to my favorite Ray-Bans.
3. The Throw-it-on Top – Meet your go to top. This is the top that you reach for basically all of the time. You wear it with jean shorts on the weekend and to work on Mondays. It’s light and breezy and doesn’t weigh you down (during DC summers, this is a must). The jury is still out on what that top is this summer, but this Madewell top is making a strong argument for first place.
4. Sunscreen – If you haven’t noticed, I’m really pale. Like, really really pale, so sunscreen is a must. I’ve tried so many different types of sunscreen but I think this year I’m going to try out the Yes To brand and maybe even experiment with powdered sunscreen?
5. Dry Shampoo – I didn’t really start using dry shampoo until this past year and now I can’t stop! I love that I can now go a few days without washing my hair and it doesn’t get greasy. With it getting warmer now, I’ve been using it more and more to touch up my hair after work outs (or just being outside).
6. Walkable sandals – ever since moving to DC, one of my favorite things to do once it gets warm is to walk everywhere (unless its ridiculously hot). Because of that, comfortable sandals that I can walk in are always a plus. For the past few years these t-straps from American Eagle Outfitters have been my favorite, but I think I may throw in these slide sandals from Loft this year too.
7. The Throw-It-On Dress – Same deal. This dress goes from day to night effortlessly, is machine washable (ALWAYS IMPORTANT), and makes you feel like a rockstar. For this it was a tie between my Old Navy Swing dress (which you’ll see here soon enough) and my Gap tie dress (previously seen here). The best part? This dress also goes well with the walkable sandals, heels, and tennis shoes!
