What dress code was given to you when you began the job?
Business casual
What do you generally wear to work?
Right now, it’s chilly! My go-to is a pencil skirt, tights, boots, and a quirky sweater. Actually, right now I’m wearing asweater with a bunch of white sheep and one black sheep facing the other way. #bah
Where do you like to shop for work attire?
Loft. Oh my goodness so much Loft. I might own every black pencil skirt they have made in the past 2 years.
How have you developed your professional style?
I’d say there are two factors: Firstly, my mom always has been and always will be put together impeccably. And I still let her boss me a little bit about clothes because her style is timeless. We feed off each other a little bit as far as style goes, but honestly sometimes when I get dressed or go shopping I think, “Would Mathy approve?” Be
Hint: if it’s preppy, she probably would. If I’m feeling more punk or street style, probably not. I also went to a private school with a dress code but not a uniform. So i’ve been experiementing with style really since I was 14.

In your specific office, what is one thing you would tell a woman to definitely NOT wear?
We have so much freedom with our business casual as we have a lot of creative type clients. But the one thing in the office handbook that has really stuck with me is “Shoes or sandals that make too
much flip-flopping noise are never permitted.” The floor in our building with most of the conference rooms has kind of an industrial look with a concrete floor, so that noise would be really annoying and unprofessional for clients.
What advice would you give to women starting in her career about dressing for her job?
I may have actually read this from one of your posts, but I like it: if you wouldn’t feel comfortable in church, you shouldn’t wear it to work. That and the old adage, dress for the job you want, not the job you have.
Anything else you would like to add?
Dress to make yourself happy- add a pop of color or a fun statement piece of jewelry if you’re feeling bored with your work attire.
